Makoran Beach project,

On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Shahram Maliki, said they had identified 27 zones on the Makoran beach for creating coastal settlements. He stated, “The results of the studies will determine how many new cities they would build in these areas, and the consultants need to specify the population capacity of these zones.”
The Islamic Republic’s authorities are constructing 27 coastal cities on the Makoran coast. In contrast, many seaside towns in Balouchistan, from Brys to Sirik, have been deprived of economic attention and infrastructure development over the past half-century. Despite their geographical location and potential capacities, Tehran has abandoned these cities. The population of these areas are the Balouch, which Tehran has abandoned, and their residents live in the most challenging conditions possible due to the lack of basic facilities and necessary infrastructure, resulting from neglect and policies. The Balouch are against these projects and policies of the Persianization of Balouchistan. The Islamic regime has confiscated land from the Balouch and nationalised their ancestral houses.

Fatalities due to poor road conditions and unsafe vehicles have become so frequent that accidents are now considered normal.
Balouchistan’s road networks are inadequate, and Iranian road and car production industries lack universal standards. Road accidents are the leading cause of death, followed by fatalities from security forces chasing and shouting.
